In its previous release, Veeam availability suit introduced dozens of enterprise features including enhancements for remote offices and advanced tape support. Now, with 9.5 Veeam are enhancing Enterprise scalability to support up to 10 times more backup and replication activities on the same hardware. While cutting backup windows and reducing impact on production environments.
Not only does the 9.5 release scale dramatically, improve performance, but it also significantly reduces stress on your primary and backup storage as well as virtual infrastructure hosts to keep enterprises always on.
This release also supports the Nimble Storage Arrays. Now you can back up production VMs directly from Nimble storage snapshots or their managed replicated copies during production hours as often as needed. And you also get granular item-level recovery with Veeam Explorer for Nimble snapshots to finally meet Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) of less than 15 minutes.
Moving on to Microsoft 2016 data center technologies, this release is no exception. It provides full support for Windows Server 2016 including hyper-v, Nano server and Storage spaces direct as well as support for the new versions of Microsoft enterprise applications.
The new release also delivers new advanced integration with Microsoft’s Resilient File System or “ReFS”, which provides fast cloning technology which enables up to 10x faster creation and transformation of synthetic full backup files for shorter backup windows and lower backup storage load. Also because clone blocks do not consume disk space. Storage consumption for GFS archives now rival that of a deduplication appliance.
And through its integration with ReFS data integrity streams, your forever incremental backup archives are protected from silent data corruption with background data integrity scanner and even proactive error correction storage spaces.
This release also enhances the support for VMware vCloud director to improve availability to infrastructure as a service models. With 9.5, tenets will be empowered to perform autonomous backup and restore operations without requiring streamlining management, improving recovery time objectives and reducing the total cost of ownership.
9.5 also introduces major scalability enhancements to VeeamOne monitoring and reporting functionality and adding charge back and billing capabilities for virtual and backup infrastructures. These powerful new reports provide enterprises multiple ways to calculate the cost of compute and storage resources across clients as well as internal departments – simplifying billing and charge backs.
Finally, and based on the many AWS customer requests, StoneFly has extended its Veeam cloud connect service to include backup in AWS cloud. Following, the currently available StoneFly cloud storage in Microsoft azure, which allows Veeam customers to bypass the azure 4TB file size limitation for unlimited backup file sizes in the azure cloud, stonefly has deployed its cloud storage service in the AWS cloud – enabling direct Veeam cloud connect backup to AWS.
This solution allows Veeam customers to minimize costs and gain new disaster recovery options with cloud restore for any Veeam backup on-premises to Microsoft Azure or AWS.
